The need for a product brochure depends on both the nature of your business and your customers. They're a valuable tool indeed for manufacturers, distributors and retailers alike. They can be referred to daily so the print finishes often need to be robust. They need to be clear and easy to navigate as a reference document, this could be through categories or colour coding for example. And let's not forget that they also need to competently sell your products. Quality of photography and how many products to a page are key areas of consideration.
Maintenance and Audits
Bolton Council has for the past 5 years commissioned The Hamilton Project to audit all its public artworks, this audit is a key component of their Public Art Action Plan (PAAP). The Audit is used to ensure that all artworks are maintained to the highest possible standard to ensure their impact on local communities is kept as high as possible. The Audit highlights, the condition of all works, with photographs, and gives details of any necessary maintenance that is required of the various Council Departments who own the artworks and recurring patterns which may be within a particular area or to a particular piece of art due to its
location or design.
The outcome of the Audit is presented to the Council's Public Art Steering Group (PASG) for information and comment. PASG is made up of Elected Members, officer from each Council Department that is actively engaged in commissioning artworks and partner organisations such as the University of Bolton.
The Audit has proved a valuable tool in ensuring that the Council manages its portfolio and ensures that different Council Departments take active ownership of
their artworks.
