Community Consultation is often an integral element to arts projects, particularly when siting artworks in the public realm. The ownership of a work or scheme by the local communities can help reduce vandalism and support the sense of place. The Hamilton Project likes to take a creative and innovative approach to Community Consultation, capturing the imagination of the local communities.
Community Consultation
The Hamilton Project managed the Design View Exhibition as part of the Festival of Light as part Blackpool Culture Festival 2007. Artists were asked to submit light artwork designs for inclusion in the 2007 Festival. The shortlisted designs were coordinated by The Hamilton Project into an exhibition at Blackpool Zoo. The local community and visitors were invited to select their favourite designs by placing a luminous sticker on their favourite design. The exhibition demonstrated the designs through models, computer animations, projections and A2 design boards.
