Barnaby Festival 2011
The Hamilton Project caught up with the lovely people at the heart of Macclesfield Barnaby Festival on Tuesday (18.01.11). Made all the more enjoyable by the marketing meeting taking place at the wonderful new Treacle Tap bar on Sunderland Street. More friendly pubs serving excellent cask ales and a wide variety of Belgian beers please!
It was another good strategy meeting outlining our ongoing pro bono work we're undertaking for the 2011 festival. A greater emphasis on social media will work hand in hand with the Barnaby print materials in 2011. The already well managed Twitter and Facebook pages will work hand in hand with new email campaigns with the public list facility on Twitter being used to boost focus of specific events. Continued use of well placed large format media to drive local knowledge of the Festival weekend dates (17-19 June if you're wondering!), with hand held print materials outlining the programme events in detail.
In recent years, this great local tradition has all but died out. Brought back in 2010, Barnaby has been reinvented as a festival of arts, culture and fun, showcasing the town’s diverse creative talent in a series of inspiring events, rooted in Macclesfield’s history.
For one summer weekend, the whole town will come to life with arts events, music and performances in historic buildings and open spaces around the town centre. Barnaby is a chance to celebrate our heritage, and for new visitors to experience the true character of this great town.
